Deborah Yeager
Director of Emergency Preparedness at New Hampshire Hospital Association

Ms. Yeager combines her emergency management experience and project management capability to coordinate the Hospital Preparedness Program through the NH Department of Health and Human Services (NH DHHS). For the last eight years, NH’s 26 acute care and 6 specialty hospitals have collaborated to achieve the requirements of the US DHHS, Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) grant. Ms. Yeager has successfully cultivated a strong coalition among NH hospitals to work on strategic planning and specific preparedness issues, discuss lessons learned and share best practices. She guides and assists the hospital emergency management coordinators and State and community partners to formulate and execute state-wide preparedness initiatives including evacuation and shelter in place planning, interoperable communications, surge capacity (both state-wide and cross-border), isolation capability, hazmat and decontamination policies and training, pandemic planning, and other requirements of the grant guidelines. Ms. Yeager is the hospital liaison to

State and regional agencies. She serves on the Disaster Behavioral Health Advisory Committee and State Medical Surge Committee, ASPR region I planning committees, a national Hospital Association Emergency Readiness group and chairs all subcommittees of the NH Hospital Emergency Management group. In the event of an emergency, she acts as a resource and facilitator for Emergency Support Function 8, Health and Medical.

Her extensive background in emergency management includes seven years as a Senior Emergency Planner at the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency where she led large-scale, multifaceted government programs and held emergency response positions at the State Emergency Operations Center at MEMA Headquarters. Previous work as an Emergency Planner/Consultant took her around the country where she provided emergency planning services to the State of Connecticut, Cowlitz County, Washington, US Army Chemical Stockpile Demilitarization Program, Jefferson County, Arkansas and Calhoun County, Alabama, the State of Pennsylvania, Harford County, Maryland, Vogtle Electric Generating Plant in Georgia, and Seabrook Station in New Hampshire.
