Bob Surrusco
Chairman, Leadership Committee, Metro Medical Strike Team

In his professional work Bob Surrusco wears many hats. At the Safe America Foundation, Bob is the EVP of Administration and General Manager. In this role he develops and executes safety and injury prevention projects; from FEMA sponsored Earthquake Awareness / Preparedness programming in the Mid-West and West to educational Webinars to coordinating business focused drills around the Country on 9/11.

As Executive Director of The Readiness Professionals, Bob has designed and delivered programs and training to businesses and County Emergency Management Agencies. Bob also sat on the State of Georgia’s “Altered Standards of Committee”, formed to address issues relating to Pandemics and other major events.

Captain Surrusco is the Commanding Officer of the 1st Medical Company, Georgia State Defense Force, Georgia Department of Defense. In this role, Bob was a ramp commander performing initial triage on evacuees arriving at Dobbins AFB during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Also in this role, Bob holds the position of Chairman of the leadership committee for the Metro Medical Strike Team, a coalition of SWAT, Fire, EMS, Hospitals, Business and the DOD. The MMST trains to respond to mass casualty events resulting from Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive Events. These scenarios also usually include hostage situations. Training exercises over the last year have included a Synagogue, a Shopping Mall, Hartsfield Airport and most recently a Water Works.
