Captain Matthew R. Paquin
Medical Operations Officer, National Guards 1st Civil Support Team

Captain Matthew R. Paquin entered military service in 1993, enlisting in the US. Army as a Medic and was assigned to the 1st Ranger Battalion. After his tour on active duty, he joined the NH Army National Guard where he served as the company medic for C. Company 3/172 Mountain Infantry and attained the rank of Sergeant.
In 2004, CPT Paquin graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Medical Laboratory Science and received his commission through ROTC as a second lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps.
In 2007 he was ordered to Active Duty and deployed to Afghanistan as a medical mentor on an embedded training team. There he served for a year in a remote region of the country where he helped mentor and train Afghan National Army medics and providers. |
CPT Paquin began serving with the 1st Civil Support Team (WMD) in 2009. He currently serves as the Medical Operations Officer, planning for and coordinating medical support for CST missions.
CPT Paquin is a graduate of the Army’s Combat Casualty Care Course, Mountain Warfare School, the Army Medical Department Captain’s Career Course and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science/Infectious Disease.
He awards include the Combat Action Badge, Paratrooper Badge, US Army Commendation Medal (3 awarded), Army Achievement Medal (4 awarded), NATO Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. |
